ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY LABORATORY SAFETY PROCEDURES Adherence to
laboratory safety procedures not only minimizes the risk of infections in the
laboratory, it is also the students’ training for minimizing the transmission
of nosocomial infections in their future work environments. These procedures
should be read to the students at the beginning of each semester and also
posted in the laboratory. A student acknowledgement follows this form.
10. Disposable gloves must be worn for touching
preserved materials, blood and other body fluids and for handling items or
surfaces soiled with blood or other body fluids. Gloves must be changed
between procedures. Hands should be washed immediately after gloves have been
removed. (Open cuts and scrapes should be covered by a sterile bandage before
donning gloves.) 11. Report all spills or accidents, no matter how
minor, to the instructor. 12. Children are not permitted in the laboratory.
Adult guests are allowed only with the permission of the instructor. 13. Wash hands and remove any protective clothing
