TechLEAP Computer Training Programs

Programming, web design, bioinformatics programming electives, or network administration with internship and career path opportunities is available through Montgomery College, Maryland's TechLEAP/WebLEAP program. The college's TechLEAP IT training programs are designed with internship opportunities to help prepare students for computer technology jobs and careers in the Montgomery County, Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia regions.

Computer training begins approximately in either the Fall or Spring semester and runs for approximately three semesters. Training can be customized to fit individual student skills and needs.  Interested and qualified students are placed in internships and career opportunities during and following the third semester.

Students take introductory courses for the first month, with training in software programming or web technologies in the first semester. Students take required and elective courses in the second semester.   See TechLEAP's Course Sequence page for further details.

Eligibility and Application

TechLEAP students must have an existing college degree.  Students take an aptitude test in the computer sciences in the summer months prior to admission, and must fill out and file the TechLEAP application by the due dates specified in the Important Dates page.

The seminar also includes classroom seminars on careers, job-topics, area economic trends affecting employment and course selection. Students desiring the internship option are selected on the basis of their aptitude for technical study and given both classroom and practical work experience.
