A 2005 recipient of Montgomery College's Outstanding Faculty Award, Dr. Chiles has also served the College as a mentor for both students and faculty, as a faculty associate for the Center for Teaching and Learning, and as a member of the College's Academic Assembly. She also served in 2006 on the Presidential Search Advisory Committee.

A noted expert in her field, Dr. Chiles has served on and led a wide variety of panel discussions and has been a presenter at a number of national and international professional conferences. She has been instrumental in bringing noted national speakers to the college. Dr. Chiles earned a B.S. degree, with honors, in Criminal Justice and Education, from the University of Maryland and a J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center.

"Dr. Chiles has been a trailblazer in her field and brings a solid reputation as a professional who functions with the highest integrity in everything she undertakes," Dr. Johnson said. "She brings a broad and diverse range of management skills to this position and I am so pleased that she will be serving us in this important role."

Dr. Chiles will officially assume her new post on July 1.
