News Release Date: June 3, 2008 Montgomery College President Names Dr. Sonya Chiles Chief of Staff

Brian K. Johnson has named Dr. Sonya Chiles as his chief of staff. Dr. Chiles
has served the College for the past 15 years as a criminal justice professor
and has served A 2005 recipient of A noted expert in her field,
Dr. Chiles has served on and led a wide variety of panel discussions and has
been a presenter at a number of national and international professional
conferences. She has been instrumental in bringing noted national speakers to
the college. Dr. Chiles earned a B.S. degree, with honors, in Criminal Justice
and Education, from the "Dr. Chiles has been a
trailblazer in her field and brings a solid reputation as a professional who
functions with the highest integrity in everything she undertakes," Dr.
Johnson said. "She brings a broad and diverse range of management skills
to this position and I am so pleased that she will be serving us in this
important role." Dr. Chiles will officially
assume her new post on July 1. # # # Montgomery College is a public,
open admissions community college with campuses in Germantown, Rockville, and
Takoma Park/Silver Spring, plus workforce development/continuing education
centers and off-site programs throughout Montgomery County, Md. The College
serves nearly 60,000 students a year, through both credit and noncredit
