How To Apply

Applications for the 2012 ACET cohort will be accepted from July 1 to October 14, 2012

1. Schedule three visits to MCPS middle and/or high schools if needed
   1. Experience substitute teaching or as a paraeducator in MCPS meets the requirement
   2. Contact the ACET office for a introduction letter for the schools if needed

2. Schedule required Praxis I and II Content state-approved testing (if not already completed):
   1. Submit required score reports to Montgomery College/ACET office
   2. See Testing/Praxis section for further details

3. Have official college transcripts sent to the School of Education at Montgomery College with
   1. Coursework
   2. Credit Hours
   3. Overall GPA
   4. Date of completion of degree

Note:  Coursework completed outside the U.S. must first be officially evaluated by one of the MSDE approved agencies.

4. Submit the following
   1. An Application Evaluation Form with a $50 non-refundable fee payable by check or credit card to Montgomery College
   2. A completed ACET application form, including responses to provided essay questions
   3. A resume including employment history and educational background, emphasizing any experience in teaching or work enhancing your ability to teach adolescents
   4. Two references from former or current employers mailed directly to Montgomery  College School of Education

Make a copy of all documents for your records.

After consideration by the Selection Committee, candidates will be contacted to schedule an interview during October or November.
